Welcome to Mrs. Sliney’s 3rd Grade Class!
Here is some important information about our class routines:
Arrival:
Students are to arrive at school no earlier than 8:30 a.m.as there are no teachers on duty to supervise before this time. We appreciate your help with this and keeping our children safe! Backpacks should be placed near the area they will line up. The first bell rings at 8:40 a.m. School begins at 8:45 a.m.
Dismissal:
All students will be released at 3:30 PM from the classroom.
Folders/Homework/Newsletter:
There will be a folder that comes home with your child everyday. This folder will travel back and forth each day to school with him/her. These folders will be turned in to the “white bucket” each day when the children arrive at school. The bucket will be located by the computer. Please make sure you check for any unfinished work, and have them try and complete them at home.
Missing work will only be accepted up to 2 days after the due date. After that it will be given a grade of 50%.
I will be sending home a newsletter every Monday. It is very important to read this newsletter, as it contains information for the week. If you DO NOT have an email address, please let me know so I can send home a paper copy.
Homework will be written down in their agendas daily. It will primarily be:
AGENDAS
My class will be using an agenda to keep track of homework assignments and other important classroom information. Students will be expected to record their homework each day in the agenda and have their parents check and sign their agenda after the days work has been completed. The agenda also includes a section for parent-teacher communication. Feel free to use the agenda to write notes to me about any questions or concerns. I will often write notes in the agenda as well. Since the purpose of the agenda is to promote responsibility among the students in third through sixth grade, it is essential that the agenda is returned each day to school.
Powerschools:
You are able to view your students grades 24/7. Please check in the front office to receive your username and password information.
Lunch:
Students can bring a bag or lunchbox with a “cold lunch” or may pay for hot lunch in the cafeteria. Parents are encouraged to open a lunch account for their student, so they can buy lunch without bringing money everyday or carrying around change. Lunch menus will be available on dvusd.org, schools, and menus. They will also be sent home monthly in your students’ folder. Online payment for lunches is also available. You may open an account by going to: www.EZschoolPay.com
Transportation:
Thank you to all of you who filled out the transportation form tonight at Meet the Teacher Night. If there is a sudden emergency change in transportation, contact the office during the day and they will notify me of the change. Thank you for your help and support with this!
Early Release
All students are released at 12:05PM on Early Release Days.
· Arrival and Dismissal procedures are the same
· They do have a 20 minute lunch period, so pack a lunch or a snack for them to eat.
Birthdays
“Non-peanut,” store bought treats are allowed to be brought into the office to celebrate your child’s birthday. We will share them on our snack time at the end of the day. Please make sure you give me notice if you are planning on bringing a treat.
Volunteers
If you would like to volunteer, please fill out a volunteer informational sheet. I will begin scheduling volunteers toward the beginning of October.
